Nuance, has just allowed us to announce the upcoming release of their new speech recognition software, NaturallySpeaking Version 9. This new version is brimming with new features, the best of all is dramatic increases in accuracy.

Version 9 is more accurate than Version 8, with it Preferred and Professional versions being 20% more accurate, and the Medical version is a staggering 30% more accurate.

The engineers made multiple changes to reach this jump in accuracy. One of the more interesting changes, is they harvested actual documents and e-mails from business offices. They analyzed the word usage in these documents, to create a better model. Dragon not only listen to what you say, but uses this improved model, to better predict what words will follow other words within your dictation.

Version 9 has completely eliminated the need to read training texts to use the system. All you have to do is read two paragraphs, which sets the computers sound levels, and you are ready to dictate.

NaturallySpeaking's upgrade, also allows you to dictate into more programs including Mozilla Firefor, Thunderbird, and now other programs that use industry standard edit windows.

Another breakthrough with this new version, is the ability to use Bluetooth cordless headsets, to dictate into your computer. So far, two Bluetooth units have been certified. Their engineers are now working to test and authorize even more Bluetooth units.

The software is scheduled to ship starting with the Preferred Version 9 being available on July 21. The Version 9 Professional is scheduled to be released on July 26th. Version 9 Medical will be available on July 28th and the Legal 9 Version on August 1st.
